Inspiration Board: Winter Wedding

I saw my first snow in Tennessee yesterday.  Rumor has it that Nashville snow rarely accumulates to anything significant.  It snowed for at least 3 hours yesterday, but was hardly cold enough and the ground was too wet for anything to stick at all.  Still, it was pretty!  ((Although I have to admit, I am missing the 70 degree weather!!))

Anyways, between the snowfall and putting up Christmas decorations in our apartment (see above), I was feeling inspired by the upcoming winter season.  Winter weddings can be so whimsical and beautiful.  Enjoy this winter wedding inspiration board!

Happy Thursday!

Mint Green & Chocolate Inspiration Board

Claudia, a girl I used to work with in DC, had asked me to do a mint green inspiration board for her.  I meant to do it before I moved, but things were so crazy that I never was able to get it done.  Anyways, here it is…finally!

Happy Friday!

September Recap

Summer is over and September has come and gone…tomorrow is the first day of October!  This year just keeps flying by but continues to stay just as busy as always!  Let’s recap on September:

Wedding Recap:

On September 17, I assisted Ashley from Windows Catering with Kara & Brendan’s beautiful Meridian House wedding!

On September 25, I coordinated Nicole & Michael’s wedding for A Sweet Soiree Events at the Hendry House in Arlington.  I was very busy in the 2 weeks before the wedding & was so busy on the day of I wasn’t able to get even one photo.  Astrid Photography has agreed to share some photos with us as soon as they’re ready though!

Personal Recap:

This month, my personal life was jam-packed.  I have been taking a lot of time with my friends and family since I will be moving soon.

I had a great time in Ocean City, MD for Labor Day weekend with a lot of good friends!

I remembered 9/11 with a Military Wedding Inspiration Board and a Toby Keith concert with friends that weekend.

Taylor‘s family threw their “Final Derwood Derby” farewell party at their home in Derwood, MD.

FOOTBALL SEASON STARTED THIS MONTH!  & I have been cheering on the Indianapolis Colts, despite their rough start so far.  This photo is from last Christmas — my family of Colts fans 🙂  Looking forward to MNF this week!

October Plans:

Tonight I plan to visit my Gamma Phi Beta family down at Christopher Newport University 🙂 Looking forward to seeing a few of my favorite people in the world!

Tomorrow, October 1 — I have a wedding at Briar Patch with Henriette.  I haven’t worked with Henriette in a while and am excited to spend some time working with her one last time before my big move!

October 8 — I’m having a going away party with all my friends and family in DC!

October 9 — My sister Diana, brother-in-law Chris, and niece Jaden are visiting…looking forward to spending some quality time with them before I move.

Columbus Day, October 10 — I am taking my dad to a Washington Capitals game…some good ol’ father-daughter time & a BIG THANK YOU for everything he has done for me (and Sadie) over the past 2 months.

October 11 — I will attend my last A Sweet Soiree team meeting.  I am so grateful for everything Courtney Swierczek has taught me over the last 9 months.

October 12 & 13 — Spending time with girlfriends aka dinners and happy hours galore!

October 16 and beyond  — The very scary but also very exciting thing about Nashville is that I have no idea what’s in store for me when I get there!  Taylor & I plan to get settled in our apartment over the first few days & then being the most serious job hunt EVER!  We are so excited to embark on this journey together and I can’t wait to share the experience with everyone!  I can assure you though, I plan to find coordinators and caterers in Nashville to work with so I can keep up with my weddings & other events!  October will be a very exciting, emotional, wild month & I will keep everyone posted every step of the way!

Farewell September…

Happy October

Happy Friday!

Inspired by Fall

Today is officially the first day of fall…can you believe it?!  I’m not quite sure how the summer flew by so quickly, but it has come and gone.  The weather is starting to cool down and it’s time to start thinking about pumpkins and apple cider.  Today’s inspiration board is inspired by this beautiful season…complete with a pumpkin patch for guests to pick pumpkins to take home, apple cider, caramel apples, and outdoor lounge seating with throw blankets to keep guests from getting too chilly in the crisp fall air.  Enjoy!

Happy Friday

Happy First Day of Fall!

Military Wedding Inspiration

The last couple weeks have been crazy here in DC between earthquakes, hurricanes, and flooding.  However, one thing weighs heavy on all of our hearts this week — the 10 year anniversary of 9/11.  We can all tell the stories of where we were when the planes crashed into the World Trade Center in New York and soon after into our very own Pentagon here in DC and we all remember the heroes on the plane brought down in PA.  It’s truly so hard to believe that 10 years have gone by.  Today’s post is inspired by our amazing troops and the brave and supportive friends, families, and fiances that stand beside them.  There’s nothing quite like a military wedding.

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful weekend & remember to say a prayer (and a thank you!) for our troops and those that support them as well as all of our other brave servicemen!

Inspired by Music City

Between learning to play my acoustic guitar (which I’ve had for 12 years) & our recent visit/upcoming move to Nashville, I have been feeling very Music City-inspired.  Even though it’s not quite Friday (I’m heading to the beach tomorrow so no blog post!), I wanted to share an inspiration board today with a very cool music theme.  Here’s the picture that originally inspired me:

And here’s my inspiration board:

Happy Thursday!

Have a relaxing & safe Labor Day Weekend ya’ll!  Next post on Tuesday!

Inspiration Board — Turquoise, Coral & DIY

It has been a crazy day as I prepare for Rebecca & Mbonisi’s wedding tomorrow.  However, we haven’t had a post on the last few Friday’s so I wanted to share this week’s inspiration board!  It’s inspired by mine & Taylor’s ideas for our apartment in Nashville…with a possible color scheme of Turquoise, Coral, and Ivory with Dark woods & many DIY projects we are looking forward to taking on.  Enjoy!

Happy Friday!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Inspiration Board — Wine-Inspired Wedding

I have recently begun learning about wine.  I feel that it’s one of those things that you are supposed to learn about as you get older.  Not to mention that it will benefit me as a future event planner.  I’d love to take classes on different types of wine, pairing wine with food, etc.  I have started buying different kinds and trying them to see what I like and what I don’t like.  It has been a lot of fun!

Today’s inspiration board is for a wine-inspired wedding.  There are so many ways to do a wine-inspired theme since vineyards are such beautiful venues.  This particular board is obviously inspired by the rich colors of red and green grapes.  Plus, how fabulous are those “spiced wine” bridesmaid dresses by J.Crew?!  I also particularly love the look of wine cork and wine barrel accents, which add a beautiful rustic look to any style wedding!

Happy Friday!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Inspiration Board — Pig Roast Wedding!

GUESS what I am doing tomorrow!?!  I’m attending a pig roast!  Yea, that’s right…it’s going to be 115 degrees outside and my friends and I will be out there playing cornhole and eating roasted pig.  Haha!

Well, of course my weekend plans got me thinking.  When my mom got married back in 1998, she had a very laid-back outdoor tented reception complete with roasted pig.  And yes ladies, I promise you can still make a pig roast wedding look beautiful!  Think rustic outdoor style wedding reception.  So, today’s post is inspired by a pig roast wedding reception (See Ben Godkin’s photos of a Real Pig Roast Wedding!) and this invitation I stumbled across (hence the sage green & white, rustic-style theme):

Enjoy today’s pig-roast inspiration board!

Happy Friday!

Have a fabulous weekend & stay cool!

Inspiration Board — Lime, Orange, & Turquoise

This week, I read an article about Being a Color Expert.  One suggestion in this article really stuck out to me: “Get inspiration for color combinations from everyday life.”  The author suggests that you use items such as a piece of fabric, a favorite piece or artwork, a favorite dress, or perhaps a decor item in your home that you just love.

So, when working on today’s blog post, I decided to search around on Pier 1‘s website for some “everyday life” inspiration.  Here are the photos that initially inspired me:

After a little research, this is the next photo that sent me over the edge into color bliss and inspiration board insanity:

Yea, freaking amazing.  I love the way the colors pop and accent each other.  Obviously, too much of any of these colors would give guests a headache…but with the right amount of colorful accents, a lime, orange, & turquoise wedding would be absolutely fabulous!  Enjoy today’s inspiration board!

Happy Friday

Happy Weekend!
