Sneak Peek — Megan & Dave

Last weekend, I worked a wedding with Henriette at Briar Patch Bed & Breakfast.  Megan & Dave’s wedding was beautiful and I just had to share some photos with you.  Unfortunately, I didn’t have a camera with me, so the Blackberry photos will have to suffice until Aaron is able to share his professional pictures with us…I apologize for the poor quality, but I hope you enjoy this sneak peek!

How cool are Megan's linen choices?!

Real Wedding — Rebecca & Mbonisi

Finally, my personal “sneak peek” photos from Rebecca & Mbonisi’s peacock-themed wedding.  This was a wedding for which I served as the day-of coordinator on my own with the pre-wedding planning conducted under Courtney Swierczek’s guidance as an Associate Coordinator for her company, A Sweet Soiree.  Crossing my fingers for some professional photos soon!

Rebecca's mother created all of the pew and alter flower arrangements.

As for why I haven’t posted since last Tuesday, it’s because I spent a long weekend in Nashville exploring the city and looking for apartments!  Taylor & I had a ton of fun with our friends, Jimmy & Alex.  My mom was even able to make the trip from Indianapolis — it was great to spend time with her.  Check back tomorrow for details on our trip!

Happy Monday!

Sneak Peek — Catherine & Daniel

Catherine & Daniel’s wedding was incredibly special to me.  Not only is Catherine an old friend, but she (& Henriette) trusted me to execute the day-of coordination for this wedding on my own.  I was hired on Tuesday for a wedding on Saturday.  It was a little crazy,  but it all came together and turned out exactly how Catherine had envisioned.  It was a great wedding, with lots of special & fun little details, like a sparkler dance, glow sticks, and a wild photo-booth.  Even more fun & exciting was seeing a lot of good friends at the wedding and allowing them to see how hard I’ve been working in this field to learn to execute things like this on my own.

Thanks so much to Catherine & Henriette for having faith in me (& to Courtney for being first to allow me to execute a day-of on my own and teaching me the pre-planning process for something like this!).

I’m hoping to post some professional shots when the photographer finishes editing, so stay tuned.  In the meantime, however, I was able to snap just a few fun photos from the evening (& borrow some from a few friends).  Enjoy!

July Recap!

July was an exciting month!  It’s hard to believe today is already the FIRST OF AUGUST!  Lets recap on the Real Weddings of July:

On July 3, I assisted Henriette at Briar Patch on Katie & Tony’s DIY BBQ-style wedding!

On July 6, I assisted Henriette with another wedding at Briar Patch — Nicole & Alex’s traditional Jewish wedding.  I also covered the Jewish wedding ceremony & reception in some Wedding History posts!

On July 16, I worked with The Chef’s Table Caterers & Event Planners on another wedding at Briar Patch!  Although I wasn’t able to take any photos, Amie Otto was kind enough to share her photos of Marisa & Scott’s wedding!

And finally, this past Saturday, I executed some day-of coordinating on my own for a friend’s wedding!  Stay tuned tomorrow for more photos of Catherine & Daniel’s wedding!  For now, enjoy these silly sneak peeks!

Happy August!

Sneak Peeks & a Real Wedding — Suzanne & Peter

This weekend was crazy busy but incredibly fabulous.  I attended a friend’s baby shower on Saturday.  She is due in August with a little boy, Caleb Aiden.  I can’t wait to meet him!  Saturday afternoon I headed to Briar Patch Bed & Breakfast for a fun wedding with Buelltiful Events.  It was Virginia Tech/Arizona State themed!  Sunday I observed/assisted Ashley Beard of Windows Catering at a beautiful peacock-themed Jewish wedding at the Carnegie Institution in DC.  These weddings were each so different from one another but were both so beautiful.  Photos will be posted later this week but for now, enjoy a sneak peek from the Middleburg, VA & Washington, DC weddings:

Now, I want to share a wedding with you that will always be so dear to my heart.  The reason why?  Because this is the first wedding that I executed the day-of coordination by myself!  I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to represent A Sweet Soiree Events on May 14 at Suzanne & Peter’s wedding.  With a lot of guidance from Courtney leading up to the wedding day, I felt prepared and ready when I woke up that Saturday morning.  Regardless, I was so nervous I could hardly think straight.  Thanks to Catherine Alexander and the wonderful staff at Mount Vernon Country Club, Courtney’s and my hard work, and all of Suzanne’s great ideas and on-top-of-it attitude, we were able to execute a beautiful wedding and the bride and groom were very pleased at the end of the day.  My favorite moment was late in the evening after all the guests had left when Suz looked at me and said, “Kelley I don’t want this day to end!  It’s like Christmas!”  A million thanks to Courtney (again and again) for giving me the opportunity to represent your company and for taking the time to work with and mentor me the last few months.  I have learned so much from you already and know that there is much more in store!

Here are some great photos by DC Wedding Photographer Joseph Allen that showcase this event that will always be so very special to me:
